CALL FOR PAPERS
Open University Law Journal (OULJ) is a bi-annual peer reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Law, the Open University of Tanzania. The journal’s key focus is on publication of high quality academic, scholarly and professional articles, comment on topical issues, critical analysis, and book reviews on legal issues covering diverse aspects of law. Since its first issue published in July 2007 OULJ has received a positive response from its local and international audience.
After a short disappearance, which aimed at upgrading the journal to a standard appropriate and in line with modern technologies, we now welcome manuscripts for publication in Volume 4, Issue Number 1 of 2013 and which will also for the first time be available online. Deadline for submission of manuscript is set on 15th April 2013.
Submission Guidelines
(a) Comment articles
Manuscripts for comment articles analysing recent cases, legislation and topical matters must range between 1500 and 3000 words with no footnotes. References should be given for citation of cases, legislation and literature, which should appear in brackets as part of the main text. All comment articles should be accompanied by a short abstract not exceeding 50 words. The main text of the comment must bear the following headings:-
A. Title (descriptive)
B. Name/Citation of relevant case/legislation/material
C. Legal context
D. Facts
E. Analysis
F. Practical significance
(a) Full-length articles
Full-length manuscripts must range between 5,000 and 10,000 words (including footnotes). Each article must be accompanied by an abstract of 150- 250 words indicating briefly the overall argument of the author. Three key words must be written immediately below the abstract. Footnotes must be kept as minimum as possible.
(b) Book Reviews
Book reviews may range between 1500 to 2000 words although review articles could be longer. The title of any book review must take the following format:-
Author/Editor Name, Book Title, Publisher, Year of Publication, ISBN, number of pages, price.
Book reviews should be clear and objective and in particularly must address these points:-
A. The intended audience
B The main argument
C The soundness of the research methods used
D Its strength and weakness
Stylistic suggestions
All manuscripts to OULJ must be written using 12 Times New Roman style in an A-4 double space format.
Name(s) of author(s), academic title and/or professional qualifications, main appointments, and email addresses must be footnoted at the first page of the manuscript.
