SHORT COURSES IN JOURNALISM AND MEDIA STUDIES
INTRODUCTIONThe Department of Journalism and Media Studies invites all in-service media personnel and others, who eagerly wish to broaden their scope of professional skills to apply for short courses due to start on 15th APRIL, 2013. The short courses are responsive to thechanges brought forth by the recent media technological advancement. The courses aim at acquainting students with new techniques in writing for the New Media Journalism Skills and offering videography.
COURSE OFFERED
1. New Media Journalism
Potential learners will acquire skills and techniques in writing for the New Media.
Duration: Three months (15 t h April 2013 - 5th July 2013).
2. Multimedia and TV production
Potential learners will acquire skills and techniques on how to produce
outstanding video and TV programmes.
Duration: Three months (2nd September, 2013 –22nd No vembe r, 2013).
TARGET GROUPS
The short courses generally aim at improving local media contents by upgrading and updating the skills of professionals working in the media industry. Applications from News Editors, Journalists, Public Relations Officers, Information Officers, Film Producers and Directors, Communications Managers, interested individuals and students in the field of journalism, mass communication and public relations are highly welcome.
DEADLINE
The deadline for submitting application forms is ONE week before the commencement of each course.
FEES
Tuition fee is Tsh. 290,000/= per course. The fees must be deposited to CRDB account number 01J1013485700 with Account Name: OUTMAST PROG.
MODE OF APPLICATION
Application forms are available in the Office of the Coordinator of Mwalimu J.K Nyerere Centre for Good Governance and Media Studies, located at OUT Kinondoni Centre, Mwalimu Nyerere Building, third floor-left wing (the Old Biafra secondary school). The forms can also be accessed online at OUT website: www.out.ac.tz. Dully filled application forms attached with bank pay in slip should be submitted to the Coordinator. The forms should be attached with the Course fees receipt.
